Continuing our video lessons on the DBS system, this week’s video explains what an adult barring check is, why not everyone needs one — and did you know it’s actually illegal to request a barring check if it isn’t required for the applicant’s role?

🎤 A Strong Start to Our 2026 Conferences

Our first Conference of the year was a huge success, with 87 delegates joining us to hear from our expert speakers on “Is your care service well‑led?” Alongside our fantastic speakers, the Q&A Managers Panel and our exhibitors helped create a lively and engaging day — and the feedback has been excellent.

We’re always on the lookout for Registered Managers who’d like to join our Managers’ Q&A Panel. Our next Registered Managers Conference will take place on 25th June, focusing on the theme of “Safe”. If you’d like to take part, please get in touch at events@wmca.care .

🌿 Workplace Wellness Week: 9–15 February

Workplace Wellness Week, run by the Care Workers’ Charity, takes place from 9–15 February. It’s a wellbeing and fundraising initiative designed to boost morale, energise your workplace and support the care workers who keep our communities going.
